INSPIRATION: 2024
Residency: October 9-14, 2024
INSPIRATION 2024
In its second year, the Residency’s theme is Inspiration — where do ideas come from and how can they be courted, developed, and refined?
The purpose of the Residency is simple: to help the artist make their best work. In addition to dedicated time to work on individual projects, group interaction with other Latter-day Saint artists at the Residency, and co-ordinated events, The Artists Residency at the Center will explore as a group one aspect of the creative process.

ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
The Center will provide travel to and from New York City, living accommodations, tickets to curated group and individual events and entertainment, and a daily stipend to cover food and travel in the city.
The residency experience will be tailored to the individual artist’s creative and professional developmental needs. Applicants will describe the project they intend to work on during the residency, and the Center will curate workspaces to facilitate residency artists’ specific visions.
Potential examples of workspaces include: • A composer might work each day in music practice studios • A writer in the New York Public Library Reading Rooms • A choreographer in the Gibney Dance studios • A photographer in a commercial studio space in Midtown • A painter in a SoHo artist’s studio • A playwright in a shared workspace at the Harlem School of the Arts
The Residency seeks to build a community by bringing all of the artists together under one roof with communal meals, outings, evening events of concerts, performances, and exhibitions, guest speakers, and gatherings to share ideas and experiences together. Discussions will explore the year’s theme of Inspiration in the creative process. The Residency will conclude with artists sharing progress they have made on the creative projects undertaken at the Residency. Portions of the Residency may be filmed, with participants’ consent, for future Center and media use.
Artists will need to supply their own materials and equipment. The Residency cannot provide personnel relevant to your discipline.
Accommodations will provide private sleeping quarters, shared bathrooms, and communal spaces. Unfortunately, the Residency cannot accommodate spouses, friends, nor families of artists. Housing for the Residency may include multiple sets of stairs; individuals with specific accessibility needs will be accommodated in nearby lodging.
