I AM: The Journey
June 18th, 2022
Conference Center Theater, SLC
Center for Latter-day Saint Arts presented, I AM: The Journey, a celebration of global, Latter-day Saint voices through art, music and dance to honor diverse cultural legacies through our shared artistic community. A family-friendly event, sponsored by Deseret Book and private donors, I AM: The Journey took place at the Conference Center Theater in SLC on June 18, 2022.
The mission of I AM: The Journey follows President Russell M. Nelson’s recent counsel to “root out racism and […] to work tirelessly to build bridges of understanding rather than creating walls of segregation.” Using the arts as a form for conversation, community and celebration, I AM: The Journey invited audiences to come and see; come and hear; and come and feel.
I AM: The Journey was led by the Center’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and co-produced and co-directed by Kevin and Lita Giddins.
The I AM visual arts exhibition, which was on display at the Conference Center and at the Flagship City Creek location of Deseret Book through July 31, 2022, is accessible by clicking the button below. This exhibition is comprised of the original I AM grant winners. Stay tuned for more to come from the I AM project and for ways to watch the entire June performance soon!
